Columbus, Ohio’s Trying make indie pop that is absolutely perfect for summer nights. Soaked in DIY charm, Their 2018 record Leave and Never Come Back is chock full of bittersweet melodies and ragamuffin guitar work. It’s a perfect record for taking a summer sunset drive, letting the warm air and Trying’s catchy tunes cure whatever sadness lies within you.
Partnering with Akron, OH visual artist Kate Rossello, Trying has created a new music video for their song “Nobody Loves Halloween Like You Do” The video is scrappy and collage-esque, with hands covered in paint reaching into the frame from all four corners. I have always loved how DIY bands will often ramp up the homemade quality of their material in music videos. Tin foil, bendy straws, paper letters – Rossello has created an atmosphere that feels completely warm, homey, and undeniably cool. While the lyrics are about heartbreak and that feeling of past relationships coming back to haunt you, the video shows us that Trying is a band just trying to have fun. And having fun will never go out of style!
Speak Into My Good Eye is proud to premiere “Nobody Loves Halloween Like You Do?” by Trying.
