24 Hour Songwriting Challenge

“Groups around the state worked tirelessly through the day and night of Sept. 20, slapping together lyrics and melodies, and recording their new songs in home studios, bedrooms and basements. The product was a heap of solid rock, folk and blues tracks that prove New Jersey’s local talent can pump out some great work, even in a time crunch.”NJ.com

(Asbury Park, NJ) Speak Into My Good Eye, Hype Machine affiliate and three time consecutive winner of the Asbury Music Award for Top Website, announces the return of the 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge. The second annual event will take place on September 12th, 2015.

The inaugural event tasked artists from all over New Jersey to conceive, write and record a new, original composition in 24 hours with over thirty contributions making the final compilation. The eclectic, 33-track effort spanned multiple genres, and was made available on a pay-what-you-want Bandcamp page with all proceeds donated to local charities.

This year, Speak Into My Good Eye is pleased to extend the borders for submissions with artists from New York and Pennsylvania encouraged to take part in addition to the original base of New Jersey. SIMGE is also proud to announce that this year’s beneficiary will be the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Any artist based in NY, NJ or PA interested in participating in this year’s challenge can e-mail speakimge@gmail.com where they will be kept abreast of the latest updates on the date and announcements including a potential concert in Asbury Park, NJ to celebrate at day’s end.
