You know when you come across an artist that you don’t initially “get”, but somehow end up listening to multiple times a day? Credit to next level MC ILOVEMAKONNEN who is one of the best hook writers working right now.

His drug addled drawl has its way of snaking around a beat on tape, but much has been made about the rappers prowess in the live arena and how it would translate.

ILOVEMAKONNEN dropped into Music Hall of Williamsburg for his second NYC show in as many days ready to answer any doubters or haters with a relentless energy. Yes, he did grab a joint out of the audience and took a drag or two, but nothing slowed ILOVEMAKONNEN as he transitioned seamlessly from hit verse to hit hook again and again with a cache that mirrors R. Kelly more than Father, who was well represented during the set.

Look for ILOVEMAKONNEN on your festival bills this summer. It’ll be the set you wish you hadn’t missed because you only know that one song.
