EdTang & The Chops

The aggressive Folk-Rock tidings of EdTang & The Chops were too powerful to ignore last year when the group’s Goodbye, Zen5, Sushi Dinner crashed and controlled the SIMGE listening party, and eventually landed on our Top 50 Albums of the Year list. In need of more, these purveyors of punk-laced americana answered the call with a self-titled EP that dropped in May and confirmed this penman’s adoration for the music…which is why his excitement was palpable when provided the opportunity to premiere the band’s new video for “When Death Should Find Us”.

The opening salvo to that self-titled collection, “When Death Should Find Us” is a mug-rattling anthem that’s moved the most stoic of barroom heroes to enter the pit and lose his shit. Such an emotional display is rather fitting for the theme of this Kevin Mahoney-directed and produced video, as EdTang & The Chops play a sarcastic troop of caterers shoved to the edge of collapse by a high strung #1 Dad and an actor that may, or may not, be David Cross.

Check out what happens when the ziti hits the fan below, stay up to date on Mahoney’s forthcoming web series Shift Into Gear on Facebook, and be sure to catch EdTang & The Chops with fellow Folk-Rock auteur Chris Brown August 1st at Langosta Lounge on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
