You may have seen songwriter Eytan Oren down in the NJ scene on the keys for Asbury Park luminary Nicole Atkins. The soul man is now picking up his piano and shuffling out on his own as Eytan and The Embassy joined by Bari Saxophonist Geoff Countryman (a regular performer on SNL), Caitlin Gray on Bass, Anthony Rubbo on Guitar, and Matt Rullo on Drums.
The band has already enjoyed a swell of success after their las music video “Everything Changes” went viral being shared by celebrities like Deadmau5, Neil Patrick Harris, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Ryan Seacrest, and OK Go.
We were on the homepage of CNN for two days next to news about Syria, which was bizarre,” says singer Eytan Oren. “Ultimately the song is about not taking yourself or fleeting success too seriously, and just finding happiness in the people and things you love most.”
Eytan and The Embassy’s latest single “Weekend Warrior”, off of their forthcoming EP due later this summer, paints an autobiographical picture of what it’s like to garner so much attention so quickly in the digital age. The track bounces from the outset with an undeniably groovy rhythm building towards an chorus destined to get stuck in your head immediately. Sultry, bar room harmonies and swinging keys outline Oren’s proclamation that no matter what may come he’ll never forget his roots.
