You’re likely familiar with NJ musicians J.T. Makoviecki and James Black from their works in Thomas Wesley Stern. The duo has been “in the lab” as the kids like to say cooking up a fresh batch of tunes under a new moniker, Jackson Pines.

On Friday, Jackson Pines unveiled a surprise release, the NY-23A EP, which consists of an original track and a few covers. Recorded live using one microphone in a farmhouse in Palenville, NY, the EP was born during sessions for the band’s debut full-length, Purgatory Road, out TBA in the winter.

The beautiful collection of songs presented on NY-23A establishes Jackson Pines’ warm, natural aesthetic with Makoviecki’s voice echoing and honoring the great songwriters covered here.

Stream Jackson Pines’ NY-23A below and catch them October 4th at The Saint with Laketon, Porchistas and Anthony Da Costa.
