I didn’t fact check, but I’m fairly certain this is the first time we’ve featured a Singapore-based band on Speak Into My Good Eye. With that, I present the alt-rock group MONSTER CAT who are cut from a more expansive, cinematic cloth.

MONSTER CAT recently dropped their latest single, “4AM,” which is a sprawling, beautifully textured epic.

To help introduce MONSTER CAT to the SIMGE audience, we had vocalist Wang Wei Yang take the SIMGE Survey. Check out his responses while streaming “4AM” below.

What sound(s) do you/your band make?

Alternative rock. And human sounds. We only make non-human sounds on special occasions.

If you could have anything fall from the sky what would it be and why?

When I was a kid I used to love to…

Smell the clothes in department stores.

An embarrassing phase in my life was when…

I didn’t eat my vegetables.

The 1st album I purchased:

The Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

The last album I purchased:

French Horn Rebellion – Foolin’ Around.

My biggest insecurity:

My knees.

You can easily win me over by…

Giving me cake.

Sometimes when I feel sad I listen to “You Get What You Give” by
New Radicals because it’s strangely comforting.

After a show people compliment me most on my…

Something most people don’t know about me is…

I tend to find really unfortunate things really funny.

The band (artist) that altered my perception on life is Sisqo because the “Thong Song” is a pretty life-changing song.

If not for music I would probably…

Have more friends.

What are your favorite song lyrics?

Wow tough one! Off the top of my head, I like that line Thom Yorke sings: “Just cause you feel it / Doesn’t mean it’s there.” – Radiohead – “There, There.”
