The ever evolving, in lineup and sound, Oxford, UK-based group TTNG (formerly known as This Town Needs Guns) are never afraid to push their work out of their comfort zone. Their just-released third LP, Disappointment Island, saw the band embarking to Chicago’s Electrical Audio studios to record with Greg Norman (Mclusky, Russian Circles, Pelican) with mastering done by Shellac’s Bob Weston.

Disappointment Island was led by single “A Chase Of Sorts” which splays the trio’s considerable talents across interweaving math-rock structures evocative of the best from the Disememberment Plan’s earlier works.

To go along with a stream of “A Chase Of Sorts” we sent TTNG the SIMGE Survey. Check out the responses below and snag your copy of Disappointment Island here.

Name: tim collis
Band: ttng
Instrument(s): guitar

What sound(s) do you/your band make?

“eeeeeeeeeeeeek, ssssssssss” (owl vs cobra).

If you could have anything fall from the sky what would it be and why?

nicholas cage action figure. why not?

When I was a kid I used to love to…

do a lot of things before the weight of the world crushed my soul.

An embarrassing phase in my life was when…

i didn’t understand the concept of ‘trousers (aka pants)’.

The 1st album I purchased:

prob Now 23 or some weird collection of UK chart-topping hits of the early 90s.

The last album I purchased:

a moon shaped pool – radiohead.

My biggest insecurity:

my slightly enlarged flippers.

You can easily win me over by…

feeding me something containing sugar.

Sometimes when I feel Leroy I listen to all the musics because it’s blocking out his screams.

After a show people compliment me most on my…

immaculate posture, dress sense and mental maths skills.

Something most people don’t know about me is…

i’m actually one of the lizard-people hiding as one of your species.

The band (artist) that altered my perception on life is ________ because not sure that any one artist has altered my perception on life but major influences have been: bjork, smashing pumpkins, owls, make believe, everything everything. could go on forever :).

If not for music I would probably…

do more lizard-people stuff like forage for resources and strengthen the rest of the ‘lounge’ (had to look it up but that is the actual collective noun for a bunch of lizards).

What are your favorite song lyrics?

“10 seconds… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… Ignition… Lift off Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, if only you could make us understand Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, your influence will spread throughout the land Let’s hear it for Mr Blobby (Blobby, blobby, blobby) etc…” it’s a real belter.
