SIMGE Survey: Getting To Know Wingman // Stream “In Comes Rushing In”

Mike Mehalick June 17, 2016 Features, Interviews No Comments

From the severely underrated scene in Minneapolis, MN we now have the latest from the duo Wingman. Comprised of Con Davison and Dan Stewart, the band recently released their new album, HONCHO.

To tease a little taste of what to expect when diving into the LP, which you should totally do here, we have the sleek, Spoon-evoking single, “In Comes Rushing In,” for your listening pleasure below. On the track, Wingman brings crunchy guitars and a steady stomp as they build towards a rollicking closing crescendo.

To help get to know Wingman a bit better we had Davison take the SIMGE Survey. Check out his responses while streaming “In Comes Rushing In” right now!

Name: Con
Band: Wingman
Instrument(s): Vocals/Guitar/Drums

What sound(s) do you/your band make?

We play lots of different iterations of that “rock & roll” thing.

If you could have anything fall from the sky what would it be and why?

It would be rad to have Prince fall from the sky. Mostly cause we all just want him back.

When I was a kid I used to love to…

Rollerblade. I was a total shredder.

An embarrassing phase in my life was when…

That time I liked to rollerblade and thought I was a shredder…

The 1st album I purchased:

Three Days Grace, Three Days Grace (god that’s more embarrassing than the rollerblades).

The last album I purchased:

Car Seat Headrest, Teens of Style.

My biggest insecurity:

I talk way too much and say a bunch of stuff I haven’t even come close to thinking about.

You can easily win me over by…

Feeding me. I think I am hungry all the time.

Sometimes when I feel tired I listen to Vulfpeck because it’s impossible to be tired after listening to Vulfpeck.

After a show people compliment me most on my…

Guitar tone!

Something most people don’t know about me is…

I am Cuban.

The band (artist) that altered my perception on life is David Bazan because well, come on, listen to his lyrics for like 30 seconds and you’ll have it figured out.

If not for music I would probably…

Just be riding my bike around the country, like I always end up doing when I’m not playing music.

What are your favorite song lyrics?

Currently? For no other reason than it sounds so rad:

“Catch up
Super fury
Don’t get left behind”

Paul McCartney – “Monkberry Moon Delight.”
