Towards the latter half of the Hot Blood / The Vansaders welcome home show at the Wonder Bar, I pow wowed over a beer with Chris of The Villanelles who invited me to a backyard party featuring a full lineup of music. I didn’t know the owner of said backyard or any of his friends/relatives, but something told me I needed to grab a six pack and head down to Howell anyway.

Affectionately titled Splendour in the Grass, the private mini-festival had all the accouterments you would look for i.e. people camping in tents, hula hoops set ablaze, and music going long into the night. I managed to catch a good portion of the day with a bunch of prime video available for streaming.

Check out snippets from The Battery Electric, Trans Charger Metropolis, Blissteque, Amy Malkoff & The Moonshines, The Filthy Three, The Villanelles, The Places You’ve Been below, and somebody please remind me never to drink Lairds again.
