As residents of the Jersey Shore, stories of the destruction left in the wake of Superstorm Sandy resonate with us. Our detailed yarns of nature’s devastating forces, and the subsequent tales of triumph, have been formulated from first hand accounts of friends and family quivering in our arms, and dampened shirt sleeves where their tears fell. But what about those rarely heard missives with the darker underbelly? Asbury Park’s own Brick And Mortar tackle such subject matter in the outfit’s latest musical picture show for “Dark Skies”.
With the partially submerged JetStar roller coaster of Seaside Heights as a back drop, among other troubling footage from the scene, Brick And Mortar introduce a protagonist torn between peddling a new drug and the personalized damage he inflicts on friends, while processing the shredded shoreline of his coastal community as a volunteer firefighter.
Stream the video below and be sure to catch Brick And Mortar on its current U.S. Tour (dates here), and on Nov. 25th at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, when the experimental-pop purveyor joins River City Extension for a final Thanksgiving showcasing (pick up passes to that event here).
