Fort Lean

There are no shortage of great bands or bars in New York City. But how often do you get to take in an intimate performance after hours?

Enter The Closed Sessions which pairs musicians with bars in NYC during the hours closed to the public, allowing them to redefine the space. The recently launched series is a novel concept that I hope to see flourish and expand with the myriad possibilities at their fingertips.

Brooklyn indie-rockers Fort Lean, who we featured back in October, were the latest to step into the lowlight, setting up in the dimly lit West Village restaurant, Bell, Book and Candle.

Check out Fort Lean’s stripped down take of St. Vincent’s “Prince Johnny” below and look for the band’s debut LP, Quiet Day, due out June 2nd (my b-day) via Ooh La La Records.
