It’s been a while since we last checked in with Brooklyn shred masters Desert Sharks. We’ve been long awaiting the follow-up to 2014’s Template Hair and our collective thirsts are now slaked with the arrival of “Sorceress,” the lead single off of their forthcoming LP, Baby’s Gold Death Stadium.
The rollicking track is a perfect blend of garage punk and surf-pop as fuzzy guitars and a mighty earworm chorus blaze the path.
The band shares; “The idea for ‘Sorceress’ began after we were talking at practice about letting our grey hair grow in. From there it spiraled into thinking about the archetype of the sorceress as a symbol of embracing personal power. It’s a vocal rejection of society’s common dismissal of aging women. Growing older doesn’t mean you lose value. It means you know yourself more, and with that knowledge comes the power to choose how you live your life.”
Watch Desert Sharks in “Sorceress” below and pre-order your copy of Baby’s Gold Death Stadium out 9/27 via Substitute Scene Records here. Desert Sharks will also celebrate the release of the LP on 9/28 at The Broadway in Brooklyn, NY.
