It seems that many artists took to finding creative ways to stay on top of their craft during this virus-induced isolation. A couple of those artists are Matt Sklar and Federica Tassano, who wrote and recorded a new EP under the moniker Phantom Handshakes during this period.
The recently released track “Stubborn” off of their debut EP, Be Estranged, is a cross between shoegaze and indie pop with a hint of post punk. The bassline and drum beat is entirely reminiscent of 80’s post punk, which pairs nicely with their music video. The rest of the instrumentation, spearheaded by the jangly guitars, creates an ambient and often wave-like effect that comes in successions.
All Bandcamp proceeds from the EP will go to support “Color Of Change”, a racial justice organization fighting to end injustice. Watch “Stubborn” below and get your copy of Be Estranged here.
