Talk In Tongues

Bubbling up on the modern psych scene comes the LA-based Talk In Tongues who just released their debut LP, Alone With a Friend, back on May 19. The sum of broken parts, the band came together following the dissolution of other projects.

The chemistry that helped Talk In Tongues to lock in their sound came almost immediately as guitarist and singer Garrett Zeile shares: “I had songs I’d compiled over the last year, and they fit the direction we wanted-they were the building blocks. Then we all started contributing.”

Following the underground success of their first single, “Still Don’t Seem To Care,” the band signed with Fairfac Recordings and delivered with a full length that runs the gamut of their influences from Pink Floyd to the expansive shoe-gaze sounds of the pre-Oasis Creation Records roster.

The mind-twisting genre wherein Talk In Tongues operates now extends out into the visual realm with the video for “While Everyone Was Waiting.” The performance based visual companion strikes an interesting medium point between the distinctly different approaches to modern psych put forward by contemporaries Temples and Tame Impala.

Don’t expect to wait too long to catch an actual live cut of “While Everyone Was Waiting” pouring out of Glastonbury speakers. I’d say two years tops.
