We’ve been on The Clydes beat since late 2013 and just like a fine wine, they’re only getting better as time goes on. Case and point; So The Story Goes, the new full-length from the indie-rock quartet due out October 20th via Mint 400 Records.
Channeling all of the best elements we’ve seen from The Clydes on previous releases, So The Story Goes is the band’s most expansive and cohesive statement to date as teased by lead single “Holly Speaks.”
The band shares:
“Brian, our guitarist, was listening to a lot of ‘90s Britpop at the time, especially Oasis. And the chords he played flowed from that. Brent, our singer, added lyrics about someone who spends too much time watching game shows when really they know they could be doing something else instead. The chorus leaps out of the verse on purpose — it’s a moment of hope.
The video captures that a bit. It was directed by Neil Sabatino, the owner of our label, Mint 400 Records, and also the man who produced our new album. He came up with the video’s concept. It’s about a girl who goes to this house party, only to be let down. Yet in her fantasy, it’s so much more. We got Brittney On Fire, the former promoter at the famed Court Tavern in our hometown of New Brunswick, New Jersey, to play the lead. And a bunch of friends played the partygoers.
We’re excited to have this be the first single on the album. It’s one of our best performances on our best record to date.”
