For the better part of a decade, Weezer had lost its step.
Following Make Believe (2005), it was a three-year tragedy of errors with The Red Album (2008), Raditude (2009), and Hurley (2010) before a three-plus years of radio silence. However, with “Ain’t Got Nobody”, “Back to the Shack”, and “Eulogy For a Rock Band” leading off it’s 2014 LP Everything Will Be Alright In The End, it appeared Rivers Cuomo and company were finally back on a track devoid of Lil Wayne collaborations and overtly infantile songwriting.
On Tuesday this promising run continued when Weezer leaked a new single named “Everybody Needs Salvation”, a melodramatic piece of operatic-rock and falsetto deliveries which will be included on a forthcoming 7-inch release exclusive to the outfit’s fan club. You can stream it below.
